Grout is a fluid, self-leveling or eventually plastic-consistency material that is used to fill narrow spaces, spaces between anchors and perforations or between the space of a machine and the support on which it rests. In this last application, it has a very good application since it manages to uniformly transmit the efforts of the machine or structure towards the foundation, allowing the optimal functioning of the entire assembly.
So, what do we call Grouting? Grouting is the process by which this material is used to be used on a certain occasion, in its various areas of application.
Grout requirements to achieve its objective:
*It is necessary that it has good fluidity to facilitate its placement and ensure complete filling.
*Must be free of retractions under plates or perforations.
*Rapid development of resistance
*Resistance to aggressive substances
*Must be heat resistant.
Application process:
It is necessary, to guarantee optimal and efficient results, that the process is taken into account in its entirety in the recommended way.
- Planning: Apply the water addition recommended by the manufacturer
- Preparation: In the first instance it is necessary to remove dirt, loose material from the surface. Then identify the high points of the motherboard and drill to avoid air trapping. Finally level the plates using screws for a good fit
- Fixation: apply the Grout for anchors in the holes. Place the anchors with a slight twisting movement until the required depth and so that the resin or grout protrudes. Check that the screws are straight and centered.
- Formwork: the formwork, to shape the mortar, around the base must be watertight and well aligned. Its height should be a 3 cm thick layer of grout.
- Mixing: add grout powder to the recommended amount of water. It is very important that the mixture does not sit for 15 minutes, as it must be poured immediately.
- Pouring: Pour the mixture continuously. Pour only on one side to avoid trapping air.
- Finishing: the edges exposed to the material must be cured using a liquid such as the one offered by LEGATEC, called KURECEM LU on the surface and its edges.
LEGATEC offers its product LEGA GROUT 83, a powder based on special cements improved with polymers in combination with graded siliceous sand.
Among the advantages, you can find its ability to achieve both initial and final resistance, it hardens without shrinkage, it has superior adhesion to steel and it is waterproof and durable.
Its appearance is granular powder, cement gray in color and its application is approximately 2200 kg of fresh mixture for each m3 of volume to be filled.
Its storage and useful life must be indoors, in a closed bag, having a useful life of twelve months in its original container.
As for precautions, it is necessary to wear safety glasses to avoid eye irritation and use rubber or latex gloves to avoid exposing the skin.
